Founded in 1972, Starker’s Restaurant is one of Kansas City’s last privately-owned restaurants on the Country Club Plaza, an upscale shopping and dining district. Starker’s offers lunch Monday thru Friday and dinner Monday thru Saturday with private dining rooms available for business, social and family events. Chef/Owner John McClure was the Executive Chef for two years prior to purchasing the restaurant in October 2006. His passion and dedication for food and wine is matched by the restaurant’s rustic French Country decor and a wine list deep enough to satisfy any connoisseur. With a current inventory of approximately 1,665 labels and a bottle count reaching 12,000, Starker’s has one of the regions most extensive wine lists.

“Wine Spectator” honored the restaurant with the ‘Grand Award’ from 1992-2005, a prestigious award currently given to only 88 restaurants around the world. In an effort to retain this distinction Owner John McClure and General Manager Dean Smith participate in wine education seminars and training throughout the year. Many of the staff have achieved sommelier status and are able to assist guests with wine suggestions and food pairings.

Chef/Owner John McClure is dedicated to crafting a menu that compliments the restaurant’s wine list by seeking the best and freshest ingredients from local and international growers to fashion his beautiful presentations and flavorful dishes. Upon entering Starker’s Restaurant, guests are cordially greeted with warmth and personality by the restaurant’s country French décor that boasts a simple, idealistic style. Public dining is limited to 40 seats and all tables are spaced for diners to enjoy intimate conversation. Each table is adorned with white linens, candles and fine china.

The 80-seat private dining room overlooks the Plaza and presents a cozy atmosphere decorated with walls of wine and a fabulous French-country wooden ceiling.

Starker’s is open for Lunch Monday thru Friday from 11:30am-2:00pm and Dinner Monday thru Saturday from 5:30pm-10:00pm. Reservations are recommended. Private rooms may be reserved seven days a week for lunch or dinner. All major credit cards accepted. Valet parking is available during dinner hours.
